CONTRATULATIONS TO OUR PASTOR ALFREDO!

Morningside Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Alfredo Jose Delgado Mendoza was selected to serve on the Presbyterian Church Intercultural Network (PIN), a grass roots network that connects and nurtures intercultural, multicultural, and cross-cultural ministries all over the United States.

PASTOR ALFREDO DELGADO

Rev. Dr. Alfredo Jose Delgado Mendoza was born in Valera, Trujillo, Venezuela on June 3, 1970. Raised in Escuque, Valera, Valencia, Los Teques and Caracas.  However, Dr. Delgado spent most of his life in the city of Caracas.

Dr. Delgado met the Lord Jesus at the age of 17.  From that moment on, his greatest passion and joy has been and is knowing, loving and following the Lord Jesus.  Followed by the joyful commitment to make others aware of how blessed we are to be Jesus Christ’s apprentices.

Presbyterian Intercultural Network

The mission of the Presbyterian Intercultural Network is to serve the church by encouraging and nurturing its efforts to become the Beloved Community, reminding dominant groups to make their circle more inclusive, supporting marginalized people and groups as they seek to find their own voice and a place at the table, challenging our churches to fight against the racism and privilege that unevenly distribute power and warps relationships  within and outside of the church, and calling faith communities to work for justice, fairness, and equality among all people.

General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

The General Assembly consists of commissioners elected by presbyteries. Half of the commissioners will be ruling elders, half will be teaching elders. Few will ever have been commissioners to the General Assembly before, but most will have served in one of the other governing bodies of our church: the session, which provides care and oversight of a local congregation; the presbytery, which provides care and oversight of a group of congregations; or the synod which provides care and oversight of several presbyteries.
